Q by Luther Blissett

Original Title: Q

Set in Reformation Europe, Q begins with Luther's nailing of his 95 theses on the door of the cathedral church in Wittenberg. Q traces the adventures and conflicts of two central characters: an Anabaptist, a member of the most radical of the Protestant sects and the anarchists of the Reformation, and a Catholic spy and informer, on their thrilling journey across Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. The four young writers who shelter behind the pseudonym Luther Blissett have created a world of intrigue, violence and intense political and religious passion. Far from the traditional example of historical fiction, Q is the stuff of which cults are made.

The Sayings Source Q And The Historical Jesus by Andreas Lindemann

Original Title: The Sayings Source Q And The Historical Jesus

This volume includes about thirty contributions to the 49th Colloquium Biblicum Lovaniense, held in July 2000 in Leuven. The authors represent the contemporary state of the scholarly discussion in Europe and North America on the sayings source Q, in connection to actual problems of the quest of the historical Jesus. The contributions show different positions on the historical and exegetical problems though almost all of them are accepting the Q-hypothesis. Some of the articles are devoted to the text and theology of the Q-source (or Q-gospel) as a whole, others deal with more special questions of the language, or the historical background or context, or the situation of the Q-community. Some of the contributions give interpretations of important particular text-passages, including parables and miracle-stories. The volume gives a good overview of the progress of the discussion and research on Q since the Leuven colloquium in 1981.

OUP's Law Q&A series enables students to practise their exam techniques and assess their progress. Q&A Evidence contains around fifty questions and full model answers designed to test even the best-prepared student. Each question is followed by a commentary and then a bullet-pointed answer plan highlighting the key points. - ;The law of evidence is an increasingly popular and important choice of subject for undergraduates. The ideal revision aid, Q&A Evidence 2007-2008 gives students the opportunity to practise their exam techniques and evaluate and assess their progress. The book is divided into chapters covering each major topic on law courses, and contains around fifty questions and answers designed to test even the best prepared student. Each chapter contains an introduction focusing on important legal aspects, and flowcharts are used to clarify issues and aid analysis. After every question there is a commentary highlighting key points, followed by bullet-pointed answer plans, and finally a model answer. The authors discuss the most effective techniques for writing examination answers and tackling both practical and theoretical questions, showing exactly what the examiners are looking for. The book opens with an introductory chapter providing detailed guidance on examination technique and the best approach to answering both problem and essay based questions; the book will be invaluable for both examinations and coursework. Q&A Evidence ends with a chapter of 'mixed questions' which will provide the perfect dry run at an examination. This fifth edition has been substantially modified to take account of recent sweeping changes in the law of evidence, as well as the radical impact of the Criminal Justice Act 2003, particularly in the areas of character and hearsay evidence. The authors also take into account the continuing effect of the Human Rights Act 1998, which has had a strong impact on the law of evidence. Online resource centre Q&A Evidence is accompanied by an Online Resource Centre providing annotated web links and a glossary of terms from the Dictionary of Law. -

The Q T Catalan Numbers And The Space Of Diagonal Harmonics by James Haglund

Original Title: The Q T Catalan Numbers And The Space Of Diagonal Harmonics

This book contains detailed descriptions of the many exciting recent developments in the combinatorics of the space of diagonal harmonics, a topic at the forefront of current research in algebraic combinatorics. These developments led in turn to some surprising discoveries in the combinatorics of Macdonald polynomials, which are described in Appendix A. The book is appropriate as a text for a topics course in algebraic combinatorics, a volume for self-study, or a reference text for researchers in any area which involves symmetric functions or lattice path combinatorics. The book contains expository discussions of some topics in the theory of symmetric functions, such as the practical uses of plethystic substitutions, which are not treated in depth in other texts. Exercises are interspersed throughout the text in strategic locations, with full solutions given in Appendix C.

Civil Liberties Q And A by Helen Fenwick

Original Title: Civil Liberties Q And A

Now that human rights is becoming a core subject on many LLB courses and is an essential field of study for all intending lawyers, this book will be helpful to any law student facing examinations on the LLB or CPE, or who is taking law options as part of another field of study. In order to take account of recent phenomenal legal developments in this subject, in particular, the Human Rights Act 1998 and subsequent changes in legislation and case law, this new edition has been thoroughly rewritten and updated. New chapters have been added on immigration and asylum law, and on the impact of the Human Rights Act 1998 and the incorporation of the ECHR into domestic law. The topics chosen reflect those generally found on human rights and civil liberties courses. However, human rights, perhaps more than any other subject, is rapidly developing and this book seeks to concentrate on those areas which are of particular interest at the present time, whilst alerting the student to potential and likely future developments and areas of challenge. Notes in each answer allow the student to develop certain lines of argument further, in line with particular interests or studies.; Topics covered include: the impact of the ECHR and its key case law; freedom of expression and information; freedom of assembly; privacy; police and other investigatory powers; prisoners' rights and freedom from discrimination; immigration and asylum law
